This video is sort of like an introduction to the idea of incremental reading. It focuses mainly on using the SuperMemo application to do the heavy lifting, but I don't see why the same workflow couldn't be managed with something like Anki.

The flow is like this: starting from the beginning of a document that you're reading...

  1. capture the next snippet
  2. create cloze deletions of any important bits.
  3. repeat

That's it. The SuperMemo software does some heavy lifting by creating some metadata, and linking the flashcards to your local copy of the original document, but that's about it.

Metadata example:

and so on.
